Sales Representative for Personal Insurance

Employment Type: Full time

About You:

You are a capable salesperson and enjoy the sales process. You are comfortable cold calling either in person or over the phone and meeting people. You desire to be part of a team and want to be part of the solution. You also desire serve and grow the book of clients assigned to you by providing extraordinary service, educating the customer, identifying revenue growth opportunities and generating referrals. 

About Us:

We are a team of people helping people. Our independent insurance business is based on the relationships we build within our Team, our clients, potential clients, our community and the companies we work with. As an independent insurance agency, we work for our clients, not one insurance company.

Our hours are Monday thru Friday 8:30 – 5:00 and we will provide training. You may be asked to work occasionally during an evening or Saturday to support local and community events.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate new opportunities and offer additional lines of insurance through consultative selling
  • Experience conducting needs assessment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Drafting prospect proposals and/or presentations
  • Promptly respond to client needs either on the phone or electronically.
  • Establish new relationships with potential clients and sign them up for insurance.
  • Cold calling over the phone or electronically connecting with people to sell insurance.
  • Once a product is sold, you will need to fill out appropriate forms and input into the software system.
  • Cultivate relationships and cross sell additional lines of insurance.
  • Ability to draft invoices & collect payments
  • Establish working relationships with clients, potential clients and companies we represent on the phone, email and on paper.
  • Supporting teammates with follow up for clients and prospects.
  • Research and resolve coverage questions.
  • Promptly respond to client needs either on the phone or electronically.
  • Maintain client files and process routine correspondence between our agency and the client or company… both paper records and on our many different software programs
  • Review and prioritize all insureds’ requests for service and to submit by priority this information to insurance companies the day the request is received.
  • Process all monied transactions the day they are received.
  • Perform miscellaneous input functions

Additional Duties:

  • Generating additional revenue on the book of business in the form of increased coverage, account rounding, adding policy features and generating referrals for new business.
    • Suggesting and selling and other insurance products
    • Asking for referrals
    • Stop, Listen, and Ask questions of your customers in order to clearly understand their needs and to build solid relationships
  • Provide outstanding inbound service on all client and prospect interactions
    • Work to manage clients expectations
    • Follow up via phone or email with clients
    • Use every opportunity to confirm and update client information
    • Educate clients on the benefits of using our agency automation
  • Positive Attitude and Efficient Work Ethic
    • Work to increase and improve efficiency on a daily basis. This includes always finding ways to streamline processes, use technology tools to the fullest and limiting general distractions.
    • Possess and maintain a positive mental attitude, including positive working relationships with clients and agency personnel.
  • Work to support the marketing and branding team in the following ways:
    • Provide them any information to be entered into marketing campaigns
    • Suggest blog, email and social media topics to the marketing department
    • Share agency social media posts on personal social networks
  • Other responsibilities as directed by your manager.

Professional and Personal Skills:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and a calculator
  • Type quickly and accurately
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Organized, structured, punctual and will follow the rules
  • Patient, respectful, reliable, trustworthy, friendly, supportive, articulate, kind, ethical and honest

Wages and Compensation:

We offer competitive wages with a base hourly wage plus commission, bonuses for performance, and other benefits are available as well.

Experience Requirements:

  • MUST have one-year sales experience in the insurance industry.
  • MUST have current and valid P&C Insurance License.
